Luthiers should handle burl poplar with care, as its irregular grain can be fragile. Use sharp tools to avoid chipping, stabilize delicate areas with thin CA glue if needed, and acclimate the wood to the workshop before working it. Wear a dust mask, as poplar dust can be irritating. A sealer is recommended for an even finish.
